Icebreaker - transparency and traceability in garment production

NZ company, Icebreaker has developed a system which allows the consumer to trace their garment  to the batch of merino wool which the garment is composed of to introduce transparency and traceability into its production. This gives customers assurance that their garment was made ethically with integrity. A nine digit "Baacode" is attached to the inner seam of the garment which the consumer can then enter on Icebreaker's website. From here, they can trace the fibre in their garment from the sheep stations in New Zealand's South Island through to the factories that knitted, dyed and sewed the garment.

As great as this is, Icebreaker mentions that this process was costly and difficult to implement. Although the company has always had a paper trail allowing them to trace their garments back to sheep stations where the fibres originated, making this information available for customers online required a lot of data entry and purpose built software. This must be updated daily.

Charitable Companies Research

Bit cheeky using the One Percent Collective website, but, i think it is a really good example of a website being simple and compelling at saying "This is what our organisation does" and "this is why you should support us". Earthlink's website needs to be condensed and simplified on the Splashpage and then organised more dynamically through rest of the pages regarding the indepth running of the company
