Feedback from our formative assessment

First, the good stuff :)

Shirley mentioned how she enjoyed that we appear to understand Earthlink as an organisation. She wants our knowledge and concepts to be passed on. She enjoyed our promo stuff - the t-shirts and spoke about how our logo "speaks to people out there". And she liked the recycled paper.

Jen appreciated how a lot of thought, time and effort has gone into our work. We have been resourceful by creating accessible and approachable material. We have integrated our approaches. They're not just add-ons, but we have built something robust and the substance is good.

While there was clarity of direction evident in our booklet, there was lesser amount of this clarity in our presentation.

How we can improve:

It is unnecessary to mention that we can individually pay x amount or that we took inspiration from The Space Between's videos. But what they do want to see is how we are going to use our skills and knowledge within the next 5-6 weeks.

We need to 'map' our whole approach and find connections. Meg, especially wanted each and every team to spell out each phase so the 'client' can see how one thing grows from another, i.e.

  • we're offering you this branding package
  • this is what it is
  • this is how we're going to roll it out
  • this is why we want funding

Trish:
  • wanted clarity on who this is all benefitting (and income that it generates), i.e. going back to the organisation.
  • She wants us to give the media guy a direction (we haven't met him yet).
  • She wants to see how our concepts work, stage by stage.
  • She likes the concept of the templates and would like to see a 'how to' guide created for staff.

Presentation issues:
  • Not all slides were in synch with our communication, so therefore there were some holes in our communication, i.e. we needed a slide to go with Deliverables.
  • Don't make assumptions about how we would use  Pledgeme and Kickstarter. Needed to spell it out more.
  • Scanning the texture of the recycled paper didn't necessarily work for projection as it was distracting, looking like a dirty lens. Just keep it for print.
  • And we needed to practice...
