Response from Rob

Hi Helena,

Thanks for your email and I am sorry I took so long to reply, just got caught up in a meeting. Doesn't time fly when you're having fun.

Q  What computer programs you have access to? (Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, Indesign, Photoshop?)
A  MS word publisher and excel but don't use excel much and not that confident with it. I prefer GIMP as it's free - keeps the bosses happy! Power point from time to time.
I use calibre when I need something from an e-book. Audacity for sound bites and open office for those difficult files.

Q  Do you work on PC or Mac?
A   Strictly PC with windows but can use Ubuntu

Q  How often do you update your social media sites? and where do you find the information you post?
A  Update Facebook site every weekday. Did have a schedule ie Shop on Monday. Mindfulness on Tuesday, humour Wednesday, Earthlink Apparel on Thursday and
Recycling projects on a Friday. However Apparel has its own Facebook site now and didn't have many followers when I started (13) so after a while I decided to post
things that interested me as was getting very little viewers. I noticed that the odd things I posted got better engagement so stayed that way. I plan on moving back to a
schedule soon but haven't decided what that might be. I also think it might be best to have a separate Facebook site for the recycling shop.
I don't do Twitter at the moment mainly because content for that was going to be coming from my twitter account from ones that I was following and I got hacked,
account is in limbo at the moment. Twitter has just slipped by untended. There has been no promotion of our Facebook site and developed a plan some time ago but
have not had support so far. Time has it's restraints so anything you can come up with would be good.

I  looked at Google plus but found it not really that user friendly, I'm not sure if it has the impact that Facebook has had. Would like to post to Youtube but having
difficulty getting assistance from others in the organisation. Have had two videos planned since March but haven't had time to develop them further.

Linkedin - we have a site but no one knows the password or who set it up. I plan on following this up one day soon.
I have a Pinterest account but have not thought of using it for Earthlink.

I suggested that one of the managers might like to produce a Blog. I think if I wrote the Blog then it might be too political. I'm not sure that it would be the right
platform for Earthlink, it would all depend on content.

I have had a brief look at Blab.im and think it might have possibilities but need to examine it a bit more.

I think my priorities are to get Twitter up and running. Get the Earthlink web site looking better - it's pretty poor at the moment and needs to worked on pronto. I think a
few hours work would improve it vastly.

Q  And is it possible for you to send through a copy of your Facebook 'Insights'. This will give us a better understanding of who see's your posts and interact with the info you post on your page.
A  Yes and it is attached

Q  Last Question, What number do I call to get a hold of you if needed? When is the best time to contact you?
A  The best number to contact me on is my work number (04) 567 7111 between the hours of 8:30am to 4pm on Monday to Wednesday. For Thursday and Friday best before 10am. If you can't get me then you can try my cell phone 021 0511729 but I normally only carry it with me outside of work hours as I do a lot of physical work outside of Mon-Weds and am tired of breaking my cell phones

Q  What's stopping us from pushing forward with our social media platforms?
A   Buy in from senior management, they don't understand the importance of these platforms, this is fairly typical for the age group 55+. My generation seems very
distrustful of most social media platforms (including Twitter) and don't seem willing to engage. My boss has only just realised the relative cheapness of boosting on
Facebook in comparison to non-electronic media, so may be we will get a little movement on that front. Time, it takes me at least half an hour a day to get posts ready, it      would be useful to use Hootsuite and line up everything for the week. I don't use trending posts very much and probably should.
Money, everything costs, just about all of my work on Facebook is done outside of work hours (95%). We as an organisation we have to try and prioritise where our
money goes, there is not a lot available.

I am grateful for you looking at this as some input form you may encourage my management to at least look to using some of these sites more effectively. If it can be done cheaply you're on to a winner.

Regards
Robert Dodge
